Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw shot a season-best 51 percent from the floor and knocked down nine 3-pointers on the way to a 69-48 North Coast Athletic Conference win over visiting Ohio Wesleyan.
The Tigers improved to 12-5 overall and 6-2 in the NCAC, while the Battling Bishops dropped to 3-13 overall and 2-5 in the conference.
DePauw got off to a quick start, hitting seven of its first nine field goal tries in building a 16-8 lead at the halfway point of the opening period. Emily Budde scored seven in the stretch and Colleen Connors five. The Tigers led, 21-11, at the quarter break.
Budde scored the first six points of the second quarter to extend the Tigers' lead to 27-11 and DePauw led by as many as 22 before heading to the halftime intermission with a 39-22 advantage.
The Battling Bishops closed to within 13 in the third and DePauw still held a 52-38 lead entering the fourth. DePauw sealed the win early in the final period with a 7-2 run that included a pair of Connors 3-pointers.
Budde, who scored 20 in the first half, led all scorers with 22, while Connors notched a career-high 20 including 6-of-8 3-point shooting. Taylor Howard grabbed eight rebounds, while Budde dished out four assists and blocked three shots.
DePauw hit 51.0 percent from the floor including 57.1 percent in the first half, while Ohio Wesleyan connected on 38.8 percent.
The Tigers also held a 35-19 edge on the boards for a 17-5 edge in second-chance points.
DePauw returns to action on Saturday, January 23, with a 3 p.m. home game against Wooster.
