Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw second baseman Gabby Smart (Chicago, Ill./Trinity), a May graduate majoring in kinesiology, capped off her collegiate career by earning second team all-Central Region honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Smart was one of three players chosen to an at-large spot on the second team.
The Tigers' leading hitter at .393, Smart had a team-high 48 hits including two homers which ranked second on the team and 15 runs batted in. She was tied for third on the squad in doubles (6), runs (20) and stolen bases (10). Smart's .508 slugging percentage were second and her 62 total bases tied for second.
Smart had a team-best 13 multiple-hit games and finished her career on a 12-game hitting streak. She also was a first team all-North Coast Athletic Conference selection.
DePauw finished the 2017 season with a 23-21 record including an NCAC Tournament title and the program's fourth consecutive NCAA appearance and ninth in the last 11 seasons.
