Four Tigers Earn All-Region Honors; Godden Named to First Team

Greencastle, Ind. - Four members of DePauw's NCAA regional runner-up squad have earned spots on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Central Region teams.

Sophomore designated player Lauren Godden (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) was selected to the first team and led the team with 62 hits, 10 homers and 43 runs batted in, while finishing second with a .395 batting average. Earlier she was named the North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year. As a first team all-region pick, Godden is now eligible for selection to the NFCA All-America team which will be announced on May 25.

Senior catcher/outfielder Sammi Bell (Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge), sophomore outfielder Liz Getz (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South) and sophomore pitcher Emma Baldwin (So., Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park River Forest) each were named third team at large.

Bell, a third team selection last year, led the Tigers with 35 runs scored and 20 bases on balls and threw out 10 runners attempting to steal. DePauw's career leader in games played (178), Bell finished her DePauw career ranked second in walks (66), tied for third in stolen bases (46), fifth in at bats (510), sixth in total bases (260), and seventh in runs (129), doubles (35) and homers (16).

Getz was the team leader in batting average (.398) and stolen bases (19), while sharing the team lead with 10 doubles. She is tied for third in school history with 46 career stolen bases.

Baldwin, who was a second team choice last year, posted a 14-10 record in the circle with five saves and a 2.14 earned run average. She struck out 166 batters in 134 1/3 innings and opposing hitters batted .220 against her. Baldwin is fourth in DePauw history with 341 career strikeouts and leads with 8.69 strikeouts per seven innings in her first two seasons.

DePauw finished the season with a 31-18 record including the NCAC regular season title and an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Championship. The Tigers finished second at the Bloomington, Ill., Regional after posting a 2-2 record.
