DePauw Forces Deciding Championship Game

Greencastle, Ind. – DePauw defeated Wittenberg 5-2 in a must-win game to force the deciding championship game in the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament on Saturday.

With DePauw playing as the visitors, Linsey Button broke open the game with a two-out, three-run home run in the top of the third. Both runners who were on base were on because of errors

Later in the inning, DePauw got another run via an RBI single to left field by Haleigh Chasteen to put DePauw ahead 4-1.

Emma Baldwin pitched 4.1 innings in relief for the win. She moves to 14-9 on the year. She gave up one unearned run on three hits.

Brooke Bandy started the game and went 2.2 innings, giving up two hits and one run.

Chelsea Zang (17-5) took the loss for Wittenberg. She went three innings and gave up four runs. Abby Haab pitched the remaining four innings and gave up one run on two hits.

Behind Linsey Button's 1-for-4 performance, Gabby Smart was 1-for-3 with an RBI and Liz Getz was 2-for-4. For Wittenberg, Loren Combs was 2-for-3 from the top of the order.
