Tigers Finish Eighth at NCAA Regional; Burguete and Batt Post Top Ten Finishes

Holland, Mich. - Paced by top-ten finishes from Polo Burguete and Zach Batt, DePauw totaled 250 points and finished eighth at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional.

Burguete crossed in 24:55.0 to finish fifth to earn an automatic qualification into next Saturday's NCAA Division III Championships. Batt turned in a 10th-place showing in 25:03.4 and will await word on a likely qualification into the national meet.

Paul Christian finished 28th in 25:31.3 to join Burguete and Christian as all-region performer followed by Pierce Sheehan in 86th in 26:36.4 and Nick Meszaros in 121st in 27:08.2. Josse Smith was 129th in 27:18.4, while Cole Martin rounded out the Tigers' lineup in 147th in 27:37.6.

"It is awesome to have two qualifiers," head coach Kori Stoffregen said.

"Polo and Zach ran very tough. As a team we had an outside chance of qualifying. They went for it and got out well, but our back pack just couldn't hang on. We will fix that next year."

Calvin won the team title with 63 points followed by Allegheny in third with 116 and Ohio Northern in third at 121. Allegheny's Dan Cheung won in 24:44.4.
