Dozier Repeats NCAC Shot Put Title; Tigers in Fourth after First Day of Conference Championships

Gambier, Ohio - Marcus Dozier successfully defended his 2015 North Coast Athletic Conference shot put title and helped the Tigers to 19 points and fourth place after the first of two days of the NCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Dozier's best mark of 15.99 meters (52-5.5) was over two feet beyond the nearest competition and marked the second-straight year he's topped the NCAC indoor field. Nate Baker placed seventh in the shot put with a best toss of 13.09m (42-11.5).

Polo Burguete posted a sixth-place showing in the 5,000 meters in 15:11.3, while the Tigers' distance medley relay of Pierce Sheehan, Alex Rossebo, Landrum Neer and Zack Patt was fifth in 10:36.19.

Three Tigers qualified for tomorrow's finals after performances in today's prelims. Johnny Miller was eighth in the 400-meter prelims in 52.07 seconds, while Brian Mincks was seventh in the 800 meters in 2:03.33 and Cameron Stewart was sixth in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.86 seconds.

Saturday's competition starts with field events at 10 a.m. and running events slated to begin at 2:15 p.m.
