Tigers Top Knights in Season's First Dual Match

Indianapolis, Ind. - After taking two out of three doubles matches at Marian, DePauw swept singles play for an 8-1 win over the Knights. The Tigers are 1-0, while Marian slipped to 5-1.

Harold Martin and Nate Wallace teamed for an 8-6 win over Ian Deiters and Marty Pochop at second doubles with John Daseke and Matt Santen topping Alex Wittenbaum and Patrick Holly at third doubles. Marian's Danny Albert and Nathan Bogle picked up the Knights' lone point in an 8-6 victory over DePauw's Dan Rodefeld and Patrick Farrell at first doubles.

The Tigers won all six singles matches in straight sets with Rodefeld defeating Bogle 6-2, 6-1 at the first spot and Farell topping Albert 6-2, 6-3 at second singles. Santen was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Wittenbaum at third singles, while Matthew Quammen won by a 6-2, 7-5 score over Deiters at fourth singles.

Martin defeated Anthony Kendall 6-3, 6-1 at the fifth flight with Greg Frauenheim beating Alex Collins 6-2, 6-1 at number six.

DePauw travels to Kalamazoo, Mich. Sept. 23-25 for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Region Championships.
