The 35th ranked DePauw men's tennis team split a pair of North Coast Athletic Conference West matchups on Saturday, falling to No. 31 Denison 5-4 and defeating Wittenberg 9-0.
Against Denison, DePauw moved to a 2-1 lead with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Patrick Farrell and John Daseke won 8-6 and Harold Martin and Nate Wallace won 8-5. Alec Kaczkowski and Dan Rodefeld lost 8-5 at No. 1 doubles.
Kaczkowski gave DePauw a 3-1 lead with a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles, but Denison took in order No.6, No. 5, No. 2, and No. 1 singles for the win. Matt Santen won by default with the match already decided at No. 4 singles 6-2, 4-6, 3-1.
Against Wittenberg, the men changed up their singles lineup but still prevailed with a 9-0 win. No. 1 doubles and No. 2 doubles started things off with 8-0 and 8-1 wins respectively. Wittenberg didn't fill the No. 3 doubles or No. 6 singles spots, giving DePauw two extra wins.
Dan Rodefeld stayed at No. 1 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 win. Alec Kaczkowski moved up a spot at No. 2 singles and won 6-2, 6-3.
The Tigers are now 9-9 overall and 2-1 in the NCAC West. They finish the regular season Tuesday when they travel to Rose Hulman.
