Four Goals Give Tigers Their Fourth Win

Greencastle, Ind. -- The DePauw men's soccer team held off a second half push from Hiram with a 4-2 win on Saturday, picking up their first North Coast Athletic Conference win of the season.

DePauw tallied two goals in each half, including two late to break a 2-2 tie. They move to 4-4-1 overall and 1-1 in the NCAC.

After 31:22 of scoreless action, Sam Kramer scored his first goal via an assist from Jackson Grabill. DePauw took that score into halftime and held it until the 61st minute.

Hiram then tied it with a goal from Giovanni Meza. However, that tie didn't last long as in the 62nd minute Justin Mitchell scored off a rebound to put DePauw back up.

Hiram tied it in the 70th minute when a pass from Brian Corbin from midfield found an open Richard Milford in front of the net.

The two teams played to a 2-2 tie for the next 11 minutes until Nick Carlson connected on his first goal thanks to some great passing from Kramer and Jake Brady.

DePauw added on in the 88th minute with Justin Mitchell's second goal of the game, which deflected off a Hiram defender to go into the net. Taras Tataryn recorded the assist.

DePauw was outshot 12-10, and goalie Austin Bodner made four saves. Bodner picked up his first win to move to 1-1 on the season.

Five cards were issued between the two teams.

Next, DePauw will travel to Denison on Oct. 7.
