Tigers Shutout Fighting Scots 5-0

The scoring came quick and often for the DePauw men's soccer team as they defeated Wooster 5-0 in a North Coast Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday.

Zach Hoffman hit the game winner just 2:16 into the game off an assist from Peter White. Six minutes later Julian Gonzalez made it a 2-0 game.

Justin Mitchell came off the bench for his second goal of the year thanks to an assist from Zach Hoffman. That gave the Tigers a 3-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Jonathan Wheeler scored his third goal in the 50th minute. White assisted again on the play. Wheeler has now scored in back-to-back games and in three of the last four.

Finally, Gonzalez connected again in the 55th minute for his 11th goal of the season. That brings him to 45 career goals as he is now three shy of tying the all-time career goal record.

The Tigers outshot the Fighting Scots 17-8 and took the corner advantage 8-5. Harrison Glover took the win in 71:35, splitting the remaining time with Ben Davis, who made one save.

DePauw is now 8-3-2 overall and 3-2 in the NCAC. Wooster drops to 4-9-1 and 1-4 in conference play.

The Tigers return to action Wednesday when they travel to Ohio Wesleyan.
