Gonzalez Moves Up All-Time Scoring List in Tigers’ 5-2 Win

Senior Julian Gonzalez scored twice as DePauw scored three unanswered goals in the second half to defeat Wittenberg 5-2 in North Coast Athletic Conference play on Tuesday.

Gonzalez, who tallied his eighth and ninth goals of the season, entered tied in third place on DePauw's all-time scoring list. He now sits alone in third with 43 career goals.

Gonzalez also doubled his season assist total on DePauw's first two goals. He found Jonathan Wheeler 4:16 into the game and later found Parker James from the left baseline in the 22nd minute.

That evened the score at 2-2 heading into halftime before DePauw took control in the second. Zach Hoffman put DePauw up for good in the 47th minute thanks to an assist from Peter White.

Gonzalez's goals came in the 56th and 83rd minutes, the first coming off a penalty kick and the second in a one-on-one.

DePauw outshot Wittenberg 21-7 and both teams took four corner kicks. Harrison Glover made one save to take the win in net.

The win moved DePauw to 7-3-2 overall and 2-2 in the NCAC. Wittenberg stays on the bottom of the conference at 3-9 overall and 0-4 in the NCAC.

DePauw returns to action Saturday when they host Wooster.
