Tigers Suffer First Loss of Season in OT

The DePauw men's soccer team took their first loss of the season on Saturday with a 3-2 defeat in overtime against D3soccer.com No. 22 ranked Centre.

After a scoreless first half, DePauw had to battle back after two quick second half goals by the Colonels. Jacob Haddad broke the tie at 45:57, and Jesse Diluzio scored almost four minutes later at 49:17.

DePauw finally got on the scoreboard in the 63rd minute after capitalizing on a foul inside the box. E.J. Moore took the direct kick to score his first goal of the season.

DePauw would hit the equalizer with just minutes remaining in the game with Parker James scored in a scrap in front of the net in the 82nd minute. Moore and Andrew Gold were credited with assists.

In overtime, Christian Gateskill took a header from Haddad and scored the game winner in the 99th minute.

DePauw outshot the Colonels 18-16, while Centre won the corner advantage 7-6. Harrison Glover made six saves to take the loss. Bailey Spade made six saves for Centre in the win.

DePauw is now 3-1-2 overall, and Centre improves to 5-0. The Tigers travel to Rose-Hulman on Wednesday before opening NCAC play at Oberlin on Sept. 24.
