Springfield, Ohio - DePauw held a 2-1 lead lead late in the first quarter, but Wittenberg scored four goals in the final 1:52 of the stanza to start an 8-0 run on the way to a 20-5 North Coast Athletic Conference win over the visiting Tigers.
DePauw dropped to 6-5 overall and 1-4 in the NCAC, while Wittenberg moved to 7-5 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
Wittenberg scored just 26 seconds into the contest, but goals by Matthew Dauw and Steen Jorgensen gave DePauw a 2-1 advantage with 2:30 left in the opening quarter. Four different Wittenberg players scored to close the period and the hosts outscored DePauw, 8-1, in the second for a 13-3 halftime lead.
Wittenberg held a 16-5 lead after three and outscored DePauw, 4-0, in the final period.
Five different Tigers scored one goal each with Ben Sherman assisting on a pair. Zach Shy led Wittenberg with four scores, while Noah Moderwell, Austin Brady, Gerald Coyle and Creighton Stephens each scored three. Jack Strahm and Michael Coyle each assisted on four goals.
Connor Patterson totaled 11 saves for the Tigers, while Charile Robson followed with five. Aaron Blossey had six save for Wittenberg with Nick Gregory stopping three DePauw shots.
Wittenberg won 20 of the 29 faceoffs with Brent Whitehead winning 16 of 19.
The hosts outshot DePauw, 54-23, held a 41-27 edge in ground balls and committed 15 turnovers to DePauw's 24.
Sean Coyne collected eight ground balls and caused four turnovers for DePauw, while Anthony Lebarge III had nine ground balls and caused four turnovers for Wittenberg.
DePauw travels to Hiram on Saturday, April 15, for a 1 p.m. game.
