Gambier, Ohio - DePauw fell behind early, battled back, but Kenyon blanked the Tigers, 6-0, in the fourth for a 13-5 North Coast Athletic Conference win in the conference opener for both schools. DePauw is now 3-2, while Kenyon moved to 2-3.
Kenyon took a 3-0 lead in the opening eight minutes before Ben Sherman put the Tigers on the board with 4:10 left in the first. Steen Jorgensen's goal with 9:19 remaining in the second trimmed the hosts' lead to 3-2, but Kenyon scored three of the next four including a pair in the final 1:31 to talk a 6-3 halftime lead.
Jorgensen added two more in the third which sandwiched a Kenyon goal and made it 7-5 as the teams headed to the fourth.
Four DePauw penalties in the opening three minutes of the fourth set up four Lords goals and sealed the win for Kenyon.
Jorgensen paced DePauw with three goals and two assists, while Sherman added a pair of goals. Joe Garvey led with five ground balls and won eight of 16 faceoffs.
Emilio Sosa, Chris Ferraro and Pierce Kraft each had three goals for Kenyon with Jonah Florence assisting on four and Ian Griffith three. Ferraro had seven ground balls, while Will Swain won nine of 17 faceoffs. Charlie Robson totaled 14 saves for DePauw, with Gaberiel Avis recording 10 for Kenyon.
Kenyon outshot DePauw, 47-37, and held a 33-16 edge in ground balls.
DePauw hosts Denison on Saturday, March 25, at 3 p.m.
