The men's golf team enters the spring season looking to improve upon last year's fifth place finish at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships.
In the fall, the men finished exactly in that spot in an early NCAC preview at the Nye Intercollegiate.
The Tigers shot a 621 in two rounds. Wittenberg won the tournament at the Wooster Country Club with a 592, Allegheny was second at 602, Wooster third at 606 and Kenyon fourth at 607.
Freshman Michael Wittenberg paced the Tigers that day shooting a 150 to tie for eighth. He'll look to continue the strong play into the spring. Drake Dunaway, Quinn Smith, Sam Karcher and Tim Graham also contributed to the team score.
Dunaway is the team's lone senior, while Quinn Smith and Sean Steinman are the only juniors on a roster that features 10 golfers. Dunaway was named an NCAC Golfer of the Week last April after finishing first at the Wooster Nye Intercollegiate last April, while Smith picked up the honor in the fall.
Another returnee is Andrew Derringer who earned All-NCAC Second Team honors last year after finishing ninth in the NCAC Championships.
The Nye Intercollegiate in the fall was their second-best tournament finish so far this year behind a second place finish in the Dan Quayle Collegiate Golf Classic on Sept. 27 where they shot 630.
The Tigers kick off the season Sunday in their lone home meet of the season, the Katman Klassic at Twin Lakes Country Club in Carmel, Ind. This year's NCAC Championships starts April 23 and ends May 1.
