Meadville, Pa. – Playing without starter and main post threat Jack VandeMerkt, the Tigers fell to Allegheny 73-59 on Friday.
Evan Zabriski came off the bench and led Allegheny with 23 points in 21 minutes.
The absence of VandeMerkt was felt as DePauw was outrebounded 45-29 and outscored in the paint 38-10.
The lead changed eight times, and DePauw led 33-30 at the half. They shot 38 percent from the floor (21-of-55) and 28 percent from 3-point range (8-of-29). Allegheny shot 45 percent from the floor (30-of-67) and 27 percent from 3-point range (7-of-26).
DePauw drops to 9-11 overall and 5-8 in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Allegheny improves to 7-13 and 4-9 in the conference.
The Tigers return 2 p.m. Saturday when they travel to Hiram.
