Tigers Keep Yeomen Winless in NCAC

Greencastle, Ind. – DePauw got back in the win column Saturday, defeating Oberlin 80-76 behind a game-high 29 points from Luke Lattner.

DePauw, now winners of six of their last seven games, held a steady lead throughout after breaking free from Oberlin midway through the first half. Oberlin kept it close but could not dig out of the 37-32 halftime deficit. DePauw led the entire second half and led by as much as 10 with 14:08 remaining.

Oberlin's Jack Poyle hit a late 3-pointer to cut the DePauw lead to three with 1:43 remaining, but Jack VandeMerkt hit a jumper on the next possession to bring the DePauw lead back to five at 75-70. A missed 3-pointer on the opposite and five free throws from Lattner in the final minute sealed the game.

VandeMerkt finished with 16 points and seven boards. James Clarke scored eight points and Mason Hankins scored six points off the bench.

DePauw shot 54 percent (29-of-54) compared to Oberlin's 49 percent (31-of-63). DePauw shot 77 percent (16-of-21) from the line and 60 percent (6-of-10) from 3-point range.

Oberlin (1-13, 0-7) held a slight rebound advantage at 28-27 and committed fewer turnovers at 9-8. DePauw found success in the paint with 36 points and 12 second chance points. Oberlin outscored the DePauw bench 30-20.

DePauw improves to 9-6 overall and 5-3 in the North Coast Athletic Conference. They travel to Wabash on Wednesday.
