No. 1 Seed Denison Eliminates DePauw from NCAC Tournament

Granville, Ohio – The Tigers had no answer for Charlotte Godfrey and the No. 1 seeded Big Red on Wednesday as Denison defeated No. 4 seed DePauw 3-0 in the semifinals of the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament.

Godfrey recorded a hat trick for the Big Red and set the stage early with her first goal just 1:57 into the game. She gathered a loose ball and scored on an open shot.

The teams played evenly for the next 55 minutes until Godfrey scored on a one-on-one at 57:53. Ten minutes later she effectively put the game away with a slap shot goal into the right side of the cage.

The three goals were her 10th, 11th and 12th on the year.

Denison goalie Kerry Lawler recorded two saves for the shutout. DePauw keeper Sarah Foye recorded three saves in the loss.

The Big Red outshot DePauw 12-9, but they only took three penalty corners to DePauw's six. DePauw had just three shots on goal – two from Reilly Bruce and another from Paige Berliner.

The two teams split during the regular with DePauw winning 4-1 in the first game and Denison taking the second 2-0.

Denison will host third-seed Wittenberg on Saturday after the Tigers knocked off second seed Kenyon 2-1 earlier on Wednesday. DePauw finishes the year at 11-8.
