The DePauw field hockey team used a late surge in the first half to propel themselves to a 3-1 North Coast Athletic Conference victory over Wittenberg on Saturday.
With 8:47 left in the first half and still scoreless, DePauw came out of their own timeout and quickly changed that score as Kate Milner connected at 26:42 on a penalty stroke. Almost three minutes later Milner scored again off an assist from Addie Ball.
For Milner it was her sixth and seventh goals of the season as she's scored in three consecutive games.
Wittenberg cut the lead in half in the 44th minute with Riley Trexler's 14th goal of the season. However, DePauw responded in the 53rd minute with Addie Ball's sixth goal of the season off an assist from a penalty corner by Rose Revolinski.
Sarah Foye made six saves to push her record to 5-1. DePauw outshot Wittenberg 14-12 but took fewer corners at 16-11.
DePauw's fourth consecutive win puts them at 10-3 overall and still in first place in the NCAC at 7-1. Wittenberg drops to 7-5 overall and 5-3 in conference play.
DePauw returns to action next Saturday when they host Wooster.
