Tigers Nab 2-1 Win Over Big Red

The DePauw field hockey team took a 2-1 win over Denison in their home opener on Saturday. The Tigers stay undefeated in North Coast Athletic Conference play at 4-0, with a 6-2 overall record.

Rose Revolinski and Kelsey Doerr recorded their first goals of the season. Doerr's was the first of her collegiate career.

Revolinski put DePauw on the board first in the 19th minute off an assist from Riley Miller as DePauw led 1-0 at halftime.

The Tigers increased their lead behind Doerr's goal at 39:27, which happened on an assist from Reilly Bruce. Denison scored at 46:48 thanks to Alyssa Bahel but could not pull closer with the equalizer. They had a penalty corner as time expired, but DePauw squashed their attempt.

Denison only took four corners, while DePauw took seven. DePauw stayed aggressive offensively, outshooting Denison 14-4.

Sarah Foye improved to 2-0 on the year but did not record a save. Ellen Westfall recorded four saves for Denison in the loss.

Denison is now 6-3 overall and 3-2 in the NCAC. The Tigers will turn right around Sunday to face Kenyon in a rematch of last year's NCAC Tournament championship game, which DePauw won in a shootout. Kenyon lost to Earlham 2-1 on Saturday, leaving DePauw in sole possession of first place in the NCAC.
