Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw will open NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship play with a first-round game at Rhodes College on Wednesday, November 11. Game time will be announced on Monday.
The 15-4 Tigers earned automatic qualification into the 24-team field after defeating Kenyon yesterday, 1-0 in a shootout, in the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament Championship. Rhodes, 15-5, earned an at-large spot in the tournament.
The two teams met in Greencastle on September 13 with Rhodes taking a 4-1 victory after DePauw held a 1-0 lead for most of the first half.
DePauw leads the all-time series, 19-12, against their former Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference foe.
The winner of Wednesday's opening-round game faces second-ranked The College of New Jersey which will host second and third-round games November 14-15.
DePauw is appearing in the tournament for the fifth time with an all-time record of 2-4. The Tigers advanced to the NCAA Division III semifinals in 2012 after topping top-ranked and undefeated Middlebury on its home field. The Tigers' last appearance was in 2013 when they lost to Catholic in the second round.
Rhodes is making its third appearance with an 0-2 record after appearances in 2010 and 2011.
