Chillicothe, Ohio – Ninth-ranked Wooster claimed its second consecutive North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament Championship after defeating DePauw 25-6 on Saturday.
After a scoreless first, Wooster's bats came alive as Jake Fling followed a two-out error with a three-run home run to put the Fighting Scots up 4-0 after two innings.
Wooster scored another four in the third, three in the fourth and fifth, two in the sixth, six in the seventh and another three in the eighth. They tallied 30 hits on the day.
Grippo later had an RBI double in the sixth, and DePauw tallied two more runs in the ninth, one on an error and another on a double from Collin Einertson.
Grippo finished 3-for-5 with three RBI. He was a triple away from the cycle. Hammel also finished 3-for-5.
Jack Dillon (3-1) started and took the loss in 2.2 innings of work.
The Tigers finish the regular season at 31-11 and will await word on whether or not they will play in the NCAA Tournament.
