Baseball Opens Season With 6-5 Win

Millington, Tenn. – Max Cohen's single in the top of the seventh won it for the Tigers in their season opener 6-5 against Greenville College.

Cohen capitalized with the bases loaded and two outs, scoring Jack Thompson, who singled earlier in the inning.

After scoring the game's first three runs in the top of the first, DePauw found themselves trailing 5-4 in the fifth inning. They tied it in the top of the sixth in another bases loaded situation as Zack Wade came through with an RBI groundout.

The Tigers (1-0) tallied seven hits for the game and recorded just two errors. Greenville (0-1) recorded nine hits and committed three errors.

Cohen finished 2-for-4 with one RBI. Jack Thompson went 2-for-5 with two RBI.  Ryan Grippo and Mike Hammel each added an RBI as well.

Hammel picked up the no decision in seven innings of work. He gave up five runs but only two were earned and struck out four.

Grant Rademacher pitched a scoreless eighth to pick up the win, and Nick Horvath followed with a scoreless ninth for the save.
